Journal not tracking activites moved to folders

I have encountered a problem not seen in prior versions of Outlook. Upon receiving e-mail, I organize by moving the mail to a particular folder. When I then go to a contact's address card Activities tab, none of the e-mail that is listed can be accessed if it has been moved to folder. I suppose a possible work around is to copy rather than move the mail (so that the mail remains in the Journal folder). However, that will just cause my inbox to grow indefinitely. As indicated, this did not happen before Outlook '03 and there has to be a work around that I'm missing. Any suggestions would be helpful.

You can change the list of folder scanned for the Activities page by
bringing up the Properties dialog for the contacts folder.
