.jpg files not opening in message area

Mac OS X
Version 10.3.5
800 MHz PowerPC G4
Entourage X
Up until recently all .jpg attachments have been opening in the message area
of my e-mails.
But starting a few weeks ago, I have to manually ³open² the .jpg
attachments.
The timing seems to coincide with Apple¹s Security Updates in September.
Does this sound possible?
Or, if not, what is causing this problem?
And is there a solution?
I¹ve done Entourage rebuilds, repaired permissions, what next?

Is "Show attached pictures and movies in messages" under view in Mail and
News Preferences Checked?

Yes, that was the first thing that I checked, sorry I forgot to mention that
originally.

- Check the "Allow network access for complex html" in the Mail and News
Preferences, Read tab
- Delete Home> Library> Preferences> Microsoft
Launch ENTX and try reading mail

Thanks again.
The "Allow network access for complex html" in the Mail and News
Preferences, Read tab was already checked.
The other file, "Home> Library> Preferences> Microsoft
Launch ENTX" does not exist.
Did a search "everywhere" for ENTX and got 0 results.

I want to add one more thing that I have noticed too.
Some e-mails that I receive have a vertical line on the left side of the
message, from top to bottom.
The window looks a little different than most e-mails in that it does not
have the Attachments Window. The message is directly under the Subject line.
Dragging to copy the message does not work but command-A does allow copying.
If the message contains a .jpeg, it does not copy with command-A, but
dragging it off to the desktop does work. However, double clicking on it
opens Safari with this in the address box.
file:///Users/test/Desktop/02_eid37_d.jpg
This may be elementary to you, but it's a tad confusing to me.
