"Junk" button function

Can clicking the "Junk" button be made to remember the address of a
designated msg so that any future mail from same gets moved to Junk
Folder automatically?

It seems that a button for just moving a highlighted msg to the Junk
Folder is a big waste of interface since the same function can be
accomplished by dragging or with the "Move" button.

What's the point of having a big button marked "Junk" if it can't be
used to designate ALL of a given sender's messages as Junk.

Yes, I know I can set rules to route given senders, but that is
problemmatic for new unwanted stuff. What's the button FOR, otherwise?

If poss., please reply by email to:

thanks . . . .

That would be fairly useless, as junk mail rarely -- if ever -- comes from
the same address twice. Not to mention those addresses are all forged.

It also removes the sender from the Recently Used Addresses list.

Well, there is the issue of commercial vendors who send unwanted
follow-up pitches, (not malicious spammers, just folks one wants to
suppress). Shouldn't an Entourage customer be able to easily designate
messages whose address could be suppressed for future filtering?

Think stalkers. . .

Well it looks as if all you guys have Entourage 2004 junk filters that
work!!

Mine only works if I run it my IMAP account setting not the POP3. I have
spoken to a few people who have found the same.

Any clues anyone?

How are you running it only against an IMAP account? There are no settings
to select which account it works on - its a global 'all on' or 'all off'.

I know, but it it only identifies the junk on accounts which are set up on
entourage as IMAP. I have the same account (same email address et al) but I
keep a POP3 version for normal use and an IMAP version for when I'm
travelling and don't want to download all email all the time.

Only on the IMAP setup does it filter the junk. On the POP3 all email
comes though, junk and all, as if there is no junk.

I also notice that above the preview pane (ie the list of email headers) on
the IMPA account it shows a hyperlink saying "protection level: exclusive"
which is not there when I view my POP account

Most peculiar.

Try turning it off, closing the window, restarting entourage, then turning
it back on again.

Agreed.

Is there a "learn" mode for junk mail in Entourage like there is in
Apple Mail? I had thought that was what the Junk button did but now
I'm not sure.

Sorry, there is NO learn mode. You have to create individual rules to handle
the spam not handled by the JMF>

Well, I'd say being able to move it in one click instead of dragging or
using Move is not a waste of interface at all. But since there's a Trash
button as well...

However, earlier on this thread (a few days ago) Adam Bailey noted that
using the Junk button prevents the addresses from going into the MRU (those
addresses that show up when you are addressing a message). Seeing how many
people complain the random addresses in the MRU bother them, that seems a
useful function.

Greetings,
I've been having the same problem with the Junk filter not working on my POP
account. I've changed the settings and rebooted but it's still not working.
I'm seeing other posts from people with this problem but have yet to see any
solutions. I'm begining to think there is a bug in the program
