Junk Filtering - Out of Control

I continue to have problems with the Junk filter. It seems to ignore ³Safe
Domains² and now it even is filtering out people in my address book. The
worst part is, I have Junk Email Protection turned ³off² in an effort to
stop this. I use Entourage 2004 to pull email from 2 POP accounts (business
and personal) and the problem seems to affect both account equally.

Any Ideas?

POP Email Accounts (with full download leaving nothing on server)
2 Rules ­ One for drugs looks for drug names in the msg body and one for
mortgage that looks for tgage in the message body

Two words: SpamSieve. Okay, that's only one word. m.

It could be your rules and MLM rules. I suggest unchecking your rules and
delete your MLM rules. Create new MLM rules as mail comes in. Add back rules
carefully.

My understanding that Safe Domains is for exchange mail.

What does ³MLM² mean? I will turn off all rules and see if it improves. I
guess it is better to manually screen than to miss email from customers and
employees....

No. You need to turn of the JMF to use spamsieve, and if you are still
loosing mail with it already turned off, spamsieve will not help.

Check your rules.

It would if you turned off *your* filters/rules and let SpamSieve worry
about what is junk and what is not. m.

I think you¹ll be very satisfied with the JMF when you get your rules
corrected.

There are three types of rules used in Entourage to manage your mail. The
Mailing List Manager (MLM) and Junk Mail Filter (JMF) are names for
specialized rules. Rules are custom rules that you create.

Mailing List Manager (MLM) is a user friendly approach to Rules which allows
you to set specialized actions for incoming list messages (like the
Entourage Talk list)

The Junk Mail Filter is a specialized rule to help manage your unwanted
mail.

Rules allows you to specify the criteria for custom sorting of your mail.

The order of execution on Rules:
Mailing List Manager
Junk Mail Filter
Rules

When you select "All rules" it also runs the MLM and the Junk Mail Filter.

Actions which Move messages or run AppleScripts cannot be followed by other
rules (unless the move message command is issued by the Mailing List
Manager).
