Junk Mail

I have set up "Junk Mail" to delete messages older the two days old. So
far they are NOT being deleted. Does anyone have any suggestions on how
to resolve this issue? Thanks, Bill

Have you checked to see the date on the junk emails? I often get a lot with
dates far into the future so they don't delete using the schedule I set up.

(I presume you ticked the 'enable' box in the schedule setup box!)

Rudy, I checked the dates on my "Junk Mail" folder and they go back as
far as 12/8/04 which is way beyond the two days set for deletion. Any
suggestions on how to correct?? Thanks, Bill

Bill, try running the schedule manually using the "Tools/Run Schedule..."
menu item and report on what happens.

I presume your schedule has something like "Delete Mail from Junk E-mail
older than 2 days" as an action. If so, running the schedule manually should
clear the ones with the older dates. If it doesn't, then I'm scratching for
an answer! If it does, the question then becomes one of why the schedule
isn't running automatically and we can explore that separately.

Good luck.

Rudy, I have discovered that if I quit Entourage it will delete the
messages. Also, if I do as you suggested it does delete the messages.
Maybe it is just me in that I thought if you specified how many days
before deleting messages it would do so automatically. I appreciate
your thought. Bill

I'm not sure I understand whether or not your problem is solved! If the
schedule works by using the "Tools/Run Schedule" then the schedule should
work automatically if you have set up the "When" part of the schedule
properly eg. "On Quit".

Can you describe how you have set up the schedule on your system?
Thanks

Rudy, You are very good. I didn't realize that I needed to schedule
it!! I only had it set up in "Junk E-Mail Protection" to delete after
two days. So now I have scheduled it and I will see what happens. Thank
you for your help, Bill
