Just curious

This isn't a complaint-just a question. I am new to the Mac and to
Entourage and I'm amazed about 1 thing. Using Outlook Express I got around
50 spam's every day. With Entourage I am getting no more than about 5 day.
The only thing I wonder is am I getting all my real email?

Entourage sends junk mail to the Junk E-Mail folder. Check there to see if
any 'good' mail was caught by the filter.

If you add the contact to your Address Book it will never be marked as junk.
The Junk Mail Filter works exceptionally well if you keep an up-to-date
Address Book. I also suggest you add a rule for 'spam is from me'. This way
you can send yourself mail and it won't be marked as spam, but the fake mail
from you will get caught by the filter.

I like the first example. I haven't met a spammer yet that uses Entourage
for a sending client.

Junk Mail where "From is Me"

Tip: If you want to nuke the junk mail rather than send it to Deleted Items
folder, download the Nuke Messages script.

Be sure to assign a shortcut to it for easy use. How to assign shortcuts to

Thanks, Diane. Since I get 2 or 3 in the junk mail folder and 2 or 3 in the
inbox every day I haven't bothered about any rules. I saved your info above
so I can use it if things change and I need it.

I get piles of spam.
my settings are high and stuff still gets through.

Suggestions?

1. Make sure you've exhausted Entourage's spam filtering capabilities
(Tools --> Junk E-mail Protection...)

2. Check into whether or not your ISP has a spam filter that you can
turn on for your accounts.

3. Look into using third party software such as SpamSieve.

4. MOST IMPORTANT - Learn why you get spam.

This is one of the most valuable articles I've ever read regarding spam
and why some people are prone to getting it while others are not:

Why Am I Getting All This Spam?
Unsolicited Commercial E-mail Research Six Month Report

Hope this helps!
