Just updated MS Office 2003 - now docs will not display

L

LadyBonita

Yesterday after receiving notification that new updates were available for MS
Office 2003 Professional, I downloaded and installed the updates.

NOW ... when i try to use Word to open files in My Documents .. it will not
display or find ANY documents!!!

I am ready to do a system restore ... too many weird things going on. Since
I am the only user on this machine, it should not be a sharing issue ... and
why would it have changed it.

Also, is there a program like for Windows to review my computer and tell me
what MS Office 2003 Pro upgrades I need -- critical and optional??

Then uninstall the updates one by one until you find the one that caused
this.....

Strange, I'd have thought you'd be on Microsoft Update, which includes both
Win & Office updates.
Do you not have update configured correctly on your sys?

How do I 'sign up' for automatic updates for Office. I am on the automatic
updates for Windows XP and it seems to be fine.

If you use the Start>Windows Update, or access via IE it should take you to
the windows update home page if you then follow the 'look for updates'
procedure, if your updater is not already configured for 'Microsoft Update'
you will be given the opportunity to do so.
Start Menu will then show 'Microsoft Update'
Once done its just a matter of setting how you want to treat updates, e.g.
auto download/install or download/notify. - I prefer download/notify

I did a System Restore last night and took out all the updates.

Yes, my Automatic Updates for Windows runs every day

Now that I did a System Restore, will it go back and pick up any critical
updates I should not have taken out?

Also, is the Automatic Update only for Windows? How can I add automatic
updates for MS Office Pro?
