Keeping Distribution Lists private

G

Gary

I always used to load up the bcc field with e-mail
addresses when I wanted to send out an announcement or
newsletter type e-mail to a large list, usually as a
distribution list. But now I hear that some spam filters
see this and mark such e-mails as spam. Is this true.

I realize this does not provide any opt-in, double opt-
in, etc . . . . so please do not lecture me on this <g>

Doesn't BCC send e-mails in a way that keeps this from
happening? If I do this, should I limit the size of the
distribution lists?

I have tried different mailing list programs. mailman is
provided, but has some quirks and is just to much for
what I want. I loved Dada mail but the host suspended my
account for a few hours because they said the dada script
caused server to hang. So I'm desperate to find another
reliable methid, although I have been asked not to try
any other third party script.

Thanks

BTW, I found the post on using add in such as Send
Personally, and I am looking into that. But I still would
like to know what other options I have

Yes, many ISPs consider mail with no "to" address to be spam. You can try
mail merges for anonymity or you can try one of these programs:

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Gary asked:

Actully, I would put MY Address in the TO Field, and the
dist list in the BCC. But still, I have heard of ISP's
blocking, but it would have to be blocked on the SMTP
side, I guess. I dunno. I just know of reports of
unreliability using dist. lists in bcc - - and maybe it's
just ASSUMED it's a spam thing.
