Keeps getting worse ... flash in powerpoint

D

DianaH

I'll be doing a presentation with powerpoint on someone else's laptop.
Problem is ... they can't see flash files in powerpoint, but they can see
them everywhere else. Any ideas on what's up with that?

I've asked them to do a "repair" in Powerpoint 2003, but I have no idea if
it will help. This is getting a little frustrating. I'd sure appreciate
any help.

You might open Internet Explorer, go to the Macromedia site, and update the
Flash Player. Someone reported recently that that fixed a similar problem
for them.

Echo, that worked for me, but it's not working for that laptop.
It's got me miffed and totally frustrated. This presentation goes live (at
a church function) tomorrow night and I'm in panic mode. The only place
that laptop will display the swf files in on the net. I posted (for
testing) the swf files and they can be watched when the person clicks on
them ... from internet explorer. However, if I send the the file or the
powerpoint file - they don't display. I really need these files to show up
in Powerpoint. It's working for me!!!!

Ah, you're the one who resolved your problem that way the first time, then.

If worse comes to worst, play them through the 'net -- use Live Web to play
that page in PPT. http://skp.mvps.org/liveweb.htm

I don't know what else to do to force PPT to play the Flash file or the
ActiveX control.

That's right Steve. I'm using the control toolbox and the properties box to
designate the file.
Thanks for mentioning it though.

You do know that you can't insert them directly into PPT, right?

You're following e.g. the instrux at www.flashgeek.com?

Try the Swiff Point Player.
It breaks a couple of formatting things but in a pinch it will easily
play the SWF just like you would insert a movie. You won't be able
to double click on a slide in slide sorter view to go to slide view. And
you can't double click on objects to get the properties. Other than that
it works great and bypasses all of the control box stuff.
