I have a strange problem that I've never seen in all the years I've used
Outlook until the last few months, and it's really getting bothersome. Upon
seemingly random actions (e.g., moving to a different folder), Outlook appears
to *almost* not have focus, but it really does. Symptoms are that keyboard
shortcuts do not work (e.g., up and down arrows, tab, backspace, spacebar,
typing alpha characters to go to a specific message, etc.) and context-sensitive
toolbar buttons are disabled (e.g., Reply, Forward, Delete, etc.). I have
to actually click somewhere in Outlook with the mouse to get the keyboard
to work again. Any previously highlighted message or folder is still highlighted,
but with the inactive color, not the active color. The only exceptions are
that keyboard shortcuts that use the system control menu and main Outlook
menu still work, but like the toolbar buttons, any context-sensitive menu
items (like Reply, Forward, etc.) are also disabled, so that doesn't help
me. It's almost as if Outlook didn't have focus, but I've proven with Alt-Tab
and the Outlook menu items that are enabled that it does have focus. Does
anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this strange problem, or
has anyone else seen something like this happen? Thanks...
