Keyboard Shortcuts

Is there a way to create keyboard shortcuts within Entourage -- note
important use of preposition there. Ideally, something like Word offers
would be, well, just wonderful. (Or would that be worderful?)

And while I'm wondering, why are the navigation keys in Entourage different
from its sibling Word? CMD + Left Arrow does the same thing as OPTION + Left
Arrow. In Word, this would take me to the end of the line, not to the
beginning of the previous word. (I know, I know, FN + these keys accomplish
this, but why is Entourage asking me to break habits created by years of
using Word?)

And, finally, while I'm still waiting for a better feedback venue: shouldn't
there be an option to trash one's junk mail, without having to select all?
Again, ideally, it would be nice to skip trash and go straight to delete --
do not pass go, do not collect $200. After all, I've reviewed it and now I
want it out of my life. (Not to rub it in, but Mail 2 has this option.)

Not quite a rant, but it could have gone there.

You can assign keyboard shortcuts to script menu items using the file naming
conventions noted in Entourage Help and here:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/script/add_shortcuts.html>

As for other menu items, if you're using Mac OS X 10.3 or later, you can add
shortcuts using the system tool. See this help article for instructions on
how to create your own keyboard shortcuts in OS X 10.3 or later.

That might be possible using AppleScript.

Not currently; often requested. You can create Entourage-only shortcuts
for any menu item, however, using the System Preferences->Keyboard
preference panel. See this page for instruction:
<http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/createshortcut.html>

When it says you must type the exact name of the menu item, it is
referring to the lowest-level name. For instance, to set a shortcut to
apply all rules to a message, you must use the name "All Rules", not
the full path such as "Messages/Apply Rules/All Rules".

Under Preferences->General in Entourage, check the box for "Use
Microsoft Office keyboard shortcuts".

You can set up a schedule to periodically empty the Junk Mail folder;
just use the same format that comes by default with the Empty Deleted
Items schedule.
