Language settings in Word

M

Michel

Hello,

I am Dutch, so I would like to occasionally write in Dutch. I configured
Word to use Dutch as the default language. Dutch is de default language in my
default format. But each time I start a new document, the language is English
US. What does a non-US citizen need to do to use his native tongue in his
word processor?

Regards,
Michel

There seems to be a few places to set the default language (at least in
WinXP). I just did a test on my machine by changing the default language on
the language bar to Spanish and when I started Word, the Spanish keyboard
layout worked. Here's what I did:

If the language bar is visible, right click on it and choose "Settings".
The "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box appears. Make sure the
Default input language here is Dutch.

If the language bar is not visible, you can get to this setting by going to
Control Panel and choosing Regional and Language Options. Click on the
Languages tab and under Text services and input languages, click the
"Details..." button. Now you can change the default input language.

This worked for me, I hope it solves your problem too.
