larger attachments get "stuck," & resent multiple times - Outlook 2003/XP

Hi there,

Sometimes when I send attachments that are a little
larger in size, they appear to be stuck in my outbox.
But what is happening is my email program is
automatically sending and resending it multiple times -
even though on my end it appears to not have gone through.

The way I stop this is to disconnect my cable, delete the
email, and then apologize to the person I just emailed,
because he/she may have received 7 of the same email by
now.

Is this a bug with the program, or is there a way to fix
it?
