launch Microsoft application

When I try to launch any application in Office the system hangs and goes no further than showing the application that I am trying to launch. At this point I have to force quite.
All other application work fine.
All Office application under my wife's sign in work fine.
Would anyone know how to fix, since this is an older version of office Tec support can not assist.

You haven't given us much to go in to offer any solutions. First, make sure
your base system files are good. After that, go to the crashes page listed
below for help.

Download the combo updater from Apple and run it again rather than using
Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially problem-causing files.
Several users have reported this fixed some odd problems they were having
with Office. Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re
applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Leopard:
