Layers in Powerpoint

Bithika

Hello!

Does Powerpoint have the concepts of layers i.e. a click
on a text can expand the details under it and another
click collapses/closes of the details. Something on the
lines of an explorer.

Thanks and regards

Oh. I was thinking of Photoshop's layers where you can expand/collapse/hide
them in the "task pane" while working...

Bithika, you'll have to let us in on the details of what you're asking for
here, I guess!

If it is a slide show thing, you can also fake manually this rather than
using VBA, but it's kind of a pain. It's also lots easier to do in 2002/2003
than in earlier versions.

No, PPT does not have layers like what you're thinking. But Steve has a $20
upgrade to his PPTools starter set that includes a layer manager thingy that
will help do what you're asking for here.

I'm beginning to feel the tug at my wallet every time my honesty gene kicks in.

The Layer Manager thingie lets you work with layered objects in PPT but I get
the impression that Bithika wants to do something in slide show view, akin to
what you see in PPT's Help, for example; click on a topic, reveal more info
about it, click again, hide it.

Layer Manager won't help with that. Oh, and there's an improved version of it
free with the PPT2HTML demo. STOP ME! STOP ME! ;-)

On the other hand, this explains how you can make a text box pop up and display
text, then disappear when you click it again:

Use VBA to create popup text

Shyam's Toolbox may also have something similar, but I'm not positive.
