Leading numbers in TOC

I have created a TOC. Each heading within the document
includes a leading number (1, 1.1, 1.2 etc). I also have
the TOC show page numbers. It looks like this:
1. blah blah........1
1.1 blah blah........2
2. blah blah........3

The problem is the entire TOC is Times New Roman except
for some of the leading numbers. The "1" and the "2" are
OK, but the "1.1" is Arial. The actual document is
neither font and I cannot figure out how to get the
entire TOC to be Times New Roman.

Any thoughts?

Modify the format of the TOC styles by clicking Modify in the Tables and
Indexes dialog and then Modify in the Style dialog that appears.

Thanks for the prompt response.

That does not change the format of the leading numbers.
The leading numbers are actually numbers in the body of
the document and were not modified by any settings in the
TOC dialog boxes. Strangely the heading1 level numbers
are changed to Times New Roman, but the heading2 and
heading3 numbers do not change.

The formatting is being picked up from direct formatting on the headings
themselves. Depending on the Word version, this might simply be a direct
font setting on the paragraph marker for the heading, or it may be that you
have a font set on the number in the numbering scheme.
