Leave mail on server problem

When I set a pop3 account to leave mail on the server,
Entourage doesn't seem to realize that it has already
downloaded a message. So every time I check my mail, all
mail on the server is downloaded again.

Hey Bill, this seems to be a pretty common problem. Check the thread
'Downloading Duplicates'. This happens to me on some accounts. I think it
has to do with how robust the server is, and the volume of mail on the
server.

We have a netmail server that is notoriously flakey, and I get duplicates
frequently. Another account on a different server is perfect, and I am yet
to download a duplicate. I would be pretty weary leaving them on the server
on POP3. I haven't heard any good suggestions on how to avoid this yet.
