Let me re-phrase question about Synchronization

My first post yeilded no response so l will try again and ask a
different way.

How do I synchronize Entourage between two Macs? Aside from creating a
backup and installing between computers, or putting the data file on
iDisk.

Is it possible to put contacts and calendar onto the iPod?

Thanks for your response.

There is no direct way of doing this that I'm aware of. You could purchase
the Address book - Entourage sync AppleScript (available from
http://scriptbuilders.net/category.php?id=1686)

The set up would then be to use the script to sync Entourage with Address
book, and then iSync to sync the two Macs. Hopefully it would then be
possible to sync Address book with Entourage using the same script on the
other computer.

The sync script has a fully functional demo, so you can try it out and see
if it works.

Paul Berkowitz, one of the MVPs frequently posting here, is the author of
the script in question.

The only (easy) ways I could think of would be:
- export to a file an re-import
- use an Exchange server and sync the two Mac through it (it should sync
calendar, address book and mail)

I'm not quite sure what you had in mind though (or which version of Entourage
you are talking about).

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I tried the first suggestion and the script works great.

Here is what worked to sync entourage with my desktop and laptop -

1. On the PowerMac G4 I Downloaded Sync Entourage - Address Book from
http://scriptbuilders.net/category.php?id=1686

2. On the PowerMac G4 I Downloaded Sync Entourage - iCal from
http://scriptbuilders.net/category.php?id=1702

3. Ran both scripts to make sure everything synchronized correctly -
in iCal some of the items were doubled so I had to erase some of the
schedules. But once that was done the sync works fine. In Address Book
the custom title names are change to custom 1, custome 2, etc., and
the original name of the title put at the end of the phone number in
perenthesis.

4. After I was satisfied with the results from Synchronizing Entourage
with iCal and Address Book I ran iSync to my .Mac account.

5. On the PowerBook G4 I installed the Sync scripts.

6. Ran iSync.

7. Then ran both the Entourage Sync Scripts and WooHoo! It works.

Once again Thanks for the help!

I'm glad that worked well. That's what the scripts were designed to do.
Don't ever be alarmed if you look at online .Mac and don't see all fields
)for contacts) displayed there. It has a limited display, but actually
retains _all_ the data which syncs on to your other computer just fine.

It also proves that errors that some people get when using iSync to sync
Address Book and iCal to phones and fax are actually bugs in the 3rd-party
software provided by the phones and fax devices to work with iSync (which is
why I also provide for one-way syncing from Entourage to restore accurate
data), NOT bugs in iSync itself. I've found in testing that using iSync just
with online .Mac works perfectly in all directions.

Thanks Paul. I am very happy with your script and purchased it. I like the
simplicity. Now I need to find out how to sync my tasks between my PowerBook
and PowerMac in Entourage 2004.

The Entourage-iCal script also does Tasks/Todos, so you've got it already.

When I go to tasks in Entourage 2004 and create a task then run the
Entourage - iCal Script that task is not synced. It does not show up as a
task when I send it to the other computer through iSync.

When I go to tasks in Entourage 2004 and create a task then run the
Entourage - iCal Script that task is not synced.

Sure it is - it will be created in the calendar whose name is the that of
the task's category - or in the None calendar if it has no category -
assuming you have not excluded that category/calendar in the script Prefs.
You must have that calendar checked as visible in iCal, of course, and it
shows up in iCal only if you also have the Todos panel displayed. (Click the
"pin" icon at bottom right of the window, To Do's are sorted by date by
default although iCal prefs let you sort them differently.

It will be there.
It does not show up as a
task when I send it to the other computer through iSync.

I just synced all my todos from my G5 to my iBook. They all were first
synced by script from Entourage (on my G5) to iCal. An now they've been
synced from iCal on the iBook to Entourage there.

If you have have everything set up correctly, and don't have some calendar
unchecked, there could be some special circumstance why this particular
tasks/todo didn't sync, although I haven't got reports form anyone else
about anything like this. I think you may just be missing something.

Anyway, better write me with full details to the email address in the
ReadMe. I'll give you exact steps to check you're doing everything right.
