letters overlapping cells

I have a short scentence in cellB2. The cell width is
intentionally narrower than the scentence. The words
overlap cell C2. If I type a number in C2 the scentence in
B2 stops short at C2. Similarily, if I have no value in C2
I would like the scentence in B2 to stop at C2 without
overlapping C2. I don't want to increase the width of B2
or change the right justification. Is this possible? I
have noticed that this works sometimes but I am not sure
how to do this intentionally. Thanks for your assistance.

If you want the sentence in B2 to not overlap into C2, but
you don't have a number in C2, then go to C2 and type a
space. The cell will recongnize something is there, but
it won't display or print.

You could place a <space> in the adjoining column, and then format that
column to a width of 0.1, so that it's almost invisible.
