Limit number of displayed messages in a folder

Hi All, I'd like to limit the number of messages Outlook 2003 displays in a
folder (mainly the Inbox). Outlook has a terrible time with anything over
1,000 items, and I would like to reduce the query/cache action that takes
place when my users who have 26,000 items in their Inbox sign on. Any reg
hacks or GPO tricks?

No, but the user can create a filtered view to show only this month's/year's
messages.

Thanks, Robert. I was hoping to find a similar functionality to the OWA
option to choose the number of messages displayed, but I guess that's not
possible with OL2k3/2k7.

No, OWA displays in pages and Outlook does not.
