Limit to List

I would like to design a rating scheme for employee evaluations.
I created a table with the Employee SSN as the Primary Key.
I then created fields for rater, senior rater, reviewer, with the Lookup
Wizard which draws it's information from a central query with the Primary Key
being Employee SSN, so...the rater is selected from a combo box by SSN.
I did this because I need to draw on a great deal of the rater, senior
rater, reviewer's data in misc reports associated with the rating scheme.
Our database does not contain information on our HQ's employees and I do not
wish to add these personnel. However, in the case of the rating scheme I
would like to be able to type my boss' rater in the field, but because the
SSN is not in our database the table will not allow this. I figured out how
to set the field to limit to list NO but that only lets me type a number in,
not a name (text). If I set the rater field to look for a name instead of a
SSN i get the problem of personnel with the same full name (I have four). Is
there any way out of this?
