Limit to number of rules in Rules Wizard?

A

Alain Dekker

Is there a limit that Outlook 2000 puts on the number of rules you have set
up? I have a huge (and sdly growing) list of anti-spam filters. They're
working fairly well, but every now and then I notice that I have to run
things manually.

Are there circumstances when Outlook will not process a rule?

Thanks,
Alain

They tend to stop working when you overload Outlook with rules and you
receive a lot of mail at once. Besides that rules also stop working when you
create an inproper rule or when rules contradict themselves or cause a loop.
Do your rules correctly when they are all enabled and when you run them
manually?

You might want to take a closer look at your mailrules and scratch or
combine some of them to reduce the amount of rules. If you are in an
Exchange environment you're limited to 32KB of rules. If you are working
with a stand-alone Outlook there isn't a limit (set).
