Link Office Documents to Contacts

Is there an automated way for Outlook to link documents
written in Word to the contact in Outlook which the
document was written to, like Outlook keeps track of the
emails sent to a contact automatically? I know about
Action>Link, but looking for someting automatic. It
seems that Action>New Letter to Contact would tag the
letter to the contact, but it does not. The file has to
be saved and then manually linked.
