Link to file problem

When I receive e-mails with attachments, I save the attachment in my
documents folder and then use Tools > Link to Existing > File to link the
message to the attachment. The problem is that whenever I move the message
to another folder within Entourage, the link disappears. Is there any way
to keep the link attached?

Are these messages that are stored on a server account (IMAP or Hotmail)? If
so, that is a limitation of using server-based mail. When the message is
moved, Entourage basically deletes it from the original folder and then
re-downloads it when you open the new folder. You can work around this by
keeping messages under the "on My Computer" hierarchy.

The messages are on an IMAP server. The links disappear when I move
them to an 'On My Computer' folder, even though there appears to be no
additional downloading. I've even tried it while offline, and although
the file moves without problem, the link still disappears. I therefore
have to conclude that it's a problem with Entourage itself, as opposed
to being a function of IMAP. I'm using Entourage 10.4.1. on OS 10.3.1,
by the way.
