linked or embedded files for smooth running cd

Hi
I am putting together a presentation for distribution via
cd.
Just wondering if there is a best size to set for linking
or embedding videos and audio clips (typical size of
these clips is 5mb to10mb).
Ultimately I want it to run smoohtly on as many pcs as
possible. It's fine on mine but that's a new machine with
1gb ram etc.
