I have a workspace composed of 2 workbooks that are linked
by a single cell in one worksheet. One worksheet resides
on a Win98SE/Office97 machine and is shared. The source
worksheet resides on a WinXPPro/OfficeXP machine. From
the WinXP machine both worksheets are opened and the cells
are linked, verifying that the link path makes sense. If
I then have the Win98SE user open the worksheet, make a
change and save the change, it breaks the link when the
workspace is opened again by the XP user.
The XP machine is a replacement for what was previously
Win98SE/Office97, this same behavior has occurred in the
past when the source Win98SE machine was rebuilt and the
link path changed, so I don't believe it to be a
compatibility issue. The only way the problem was
resolved then was to recreate the workspace from the
ground up(seems ridiculous).
We have tried several unsuccessful plans to correct this:
1)Merely recreating the links
2)Recreating the workspace and the links
3)Removing all of the links in the source workbook that
previously existed, recreating the workspace, recreating
the links.
