Linking data file to synchronise causes access to hang

Can anyone shed some light.

Running peir to peir network. PC's all on XP upgrade from
Win 98. Access 2000 SP3.

Lately when I attenpt to link to the master data file to
synchronise, the link begins and the progress meter often
fills up indicating a link. During this link access hangs.

Cntrl- Alt Delete. Re-open access and the link has been
made and the file can be synchronised.


I have one Win 98 pc on the network. Same thing applies.
Not all XP machines experience this freeze during linking.

Does anyone know why this freeze occurs during the
linking to the master data file on a PC on the LAN.

Are there any fixes available?
