Linking functions very slow

I have a worksheet with about 1000 rows and about 6
columns of formulas that have vlookup formulas with a link
to another workbook. Problem is the system appears to
hang up if I copy all the formulas at once. I tried doing
100 rows at at time and it took 10 minutes to complete the
linking of the formulas. So I'm guessing it would take 1
1/2 hours to copy the formulas to all 1000 rows. That is
way too long. The problem is not my computer speed. Does
this make sense? Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi
depending on the range in your VLOOKUP formula this could be the best
you could achieve. Does opening the other workbook help?
You may also consider turning off automatic calculation while copying
the formulas.

Frank,
Manual re-calculation by itself did not help but having
all of the linking workbooks open (there are 4 of them)
helped tremendously. The formulas copied in seconds.
Thank you very much!
