Linking Presentations versus Inserting Them as Objects...

I've always hyperlinked to other presentations when I've needed to reference
other files, but I'm playing with inserting other presentations as objects
onto slides.

What are the cons to doing this?

It doesn't appear as though inserting a presentation (that resides locally)
makes the master presentation any bigger in size, and this method allows me
to set an automatic animation that opens up the second presentation.

This does cause an annoying popup about updates whenever I first open the
master presentation, but other than that, are things I should be wary of?

Actually, I prefer to do it by inserting them as objects for a lot of
reasons. I know of no real draw backs to doing so.
