Linking problem within PowerPoint 2000

Aargh!!

Hi,
I am using Office 2000 (with XP professional) and have created a non
linear presentation built to provide the user (my boss) with a degree
of interactivity. We created a folder that contained multiple
presentations that are all linked together (There are no sounds or
movies (though they may be added in the future), only text, pictures,
charts graphs etc) and then burnt it onto a CD. He then took the cd to
another location to play it and the lap-top he was using promptly
hung.
The only reason I can think of is that when each individual
presentation has been opened and played in the slide show, the user
opens up aonther, linked presentation, without having the ability to
close down the preceding presentation.
My question here is,"Is there a way in which a presentation that has
been watched can be automatically closed on clicking the link to the
next presentation in a seamless manner so that the audience isn't
aware of what's happening?".
Thanks

Dear Aargh!!

The trick is to only have a maximum of 2 presentations open at any one time.

See http://www.powerpointbackgrounds.com/powerpointmenu.htm

or
http://www.powerpointbackgrounds.com/powerpointlinking.htm

Never link from presentation (a) to presentation (b) and then add a
hyperlink/action that calls up presentation (a)... it's a recipe for
disaster. Always get presentation (b) to finish/exit/quit

Thanks for the reply TAJ.

We weren't only linking (a) to (b) but (c) to (d) to (e) to (f) then
back to (a) or (b) at the users discretion. Is there another way to
have the same interactivity without reducing the number of
presentation to two, such as having a presentation running within a
presentation so that only one is open at any time?

With regard to the link,

I have had a look at this but some of the menu options are not
available to Powerpoint 2000 users. More's the pity.

Thanks for the other link. I'll have a go at that one, see how I get
on and get back to you.

I should make it more obvious.... the link for the ppt 97 / 2000 linking
tutorial is buried way down the page.... here it is
