Links not actually linked when writing email

Hello,
When I'm writing email in HTML and paste a link into an email, it is not
automatically linked. (highlighted in blue) I click space after the last
letter, but nothing happens. Is there anything in particular I need to
change?

That is normal behaviour - the link doesn't become active until the mail
is saved or sent.

Your recipients should see an active link, although this behaviour is
dependant on how the receiving client handles links in messages - this
isn't something that Entourage can control.
