Links/short-cuts to Word, Outlook, etc don't work

All of a sudden, my links to Office (2007) programs don't work.

If I pin a link to the Start menu (using Vista), nothing happens when I
click on the link. My keyboard short-cut keys (hardware keys) don't work
either.

There's no error message - but nothing happens when I select these links.

But if I navigate through the Start menu and actually select the individual
programs then they work fine. Weird!

Any ideas, short of a re-install of all of the programs?
