list boxes resize when sheet on auto recalc

I'm running an option pricing spreadsheet that
automatically recalcs whenever the underlying price
moves. The sheet works well, except every once in a
while, the list boxes on the page will start resizing and
get down to almost no size at all. Usually at that
point, excel crashes.

Does anyone know the cause and/or fix of this? I've
spoken to others in the industry and they complain about
similar maladies.
