Location of WAV files in PP-presentations

I would like to know where *.WAV files are located in a finished
PP-presentation to take them out, modify them and finally transfer them back
into the presentation replacing the "old" ones.

If they are embedded, you can save the presentation as html to get these
sounds out.

To do so, open the presentation.
Click File > Save As.
Under save as type, click on the dropdown, select Webpage (*.htm, *.html)
Click Save.
Now, look into the output folder for the sound files.
Modify them according to your preference, then put them back into the
folder. Make sure the filenames and extension are not modified.
Open PowerPoint again, click File > Open.
Look for the .htm file.
Save it back to .ppt.
