I AM PISSED. I BOUGHT THIS COMPUTER 78 DAYS AGO AS TOLD BY MY EXPIRED VIRUS
PROTECTION. LAST NIGHT I WAS WORKING ON A PAPER FOR SCHOOL. I WOKE UP THIS
MORNING AND FOUND THAT MY MICROSOFT OFFICE 2003 WAS EXPIRED AND THAT MY
DOCUMENT IS LOCKED. WHETHER THE SOFTWARE IS EXPIRED OR NOT, THAT IS STILL MY
PAPER. IF I SPEND 1600 ON A COMPUTER IT IS COMPLETELY SHITTY THAT ALL OF MY
SOFTWARE EXPIRES SO QUICKLY. I WANT ACCESS TO MY PAPER BACK, YOU CAN TAKE
YOU SOFTWARE AND THEN SHOVE IT. AND THEN TO GET ASSISTANCE I WOULD HAVE TO
PAY 35$? YOU SUCK.

You haven't told us about the mornings you woke up to messages telling you
that your software was in danger of expiring.. did you forget about those?..

Your issues are with the vendor and the salesperson who transacted with
you.. go see them..

And she shouldn't be real happy with herself either. Trial is trial, not
permanent. And when she talks to her salesperson, she needs to tell him to
on top of this software issue, her cap lock key is stuck. It makes all her
messages read as if she's angry and yelling at people who can't help her.

If the user were to take the document to another computer with a non-trial
version of Office, would it be editable? Or is the document kaput?

It should be okay. I can't be certain because I've never created an
important document with trial software. If I want a software program, I just
buy it. Surprisingly enough, I've only ever once spent money on a program
that was "wrong". (It was a game and if I'd read the box a bit more
carefully I would have seen it was online only. I was able to return it for
credit at EB and got another game.)

Open Office is available to all who feel that they should have something for
nothing..

http://www.openoffice.org/ ..

This is just one more case of a purchaser who had no idea what was included
in the package and never thought to ask. Of course, some are braver behind a
keyboard than they might be in the store from which the computer was
purchased.

When I sold computers I asked a lot of questions about what kind of things
the customer was going to do with their computer. I *know* that they often
thought I was only trying to bump up a commission check. I was just trying
to make sure they got what they needed to do what they wanted. I knew that
if they didn't, they'd be back to scream at me about the POS I sold them,
etc.

The customer who doesn't know how to ask what he's getting for his/her
money, almost deserves whatever he/she gets.

The problem is NOT the "paper is locked". You simply open YOUR paper
using a valid version of Word 2003 and NO PROBLEM! Also press the
caps-lock key three times.
