fdouglis

I got a new PDA and it came with Outlook 2002 - which I installed over a perfectly good version of Outlook 2000. Now when I start Outlook I get a message that "unable to open yor default email folders. The DLL for the information service could not be found. MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is orrectly installed and configured.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the new version of Outlook which came with the PDA and the version on my Office XP disk several times with the same results
Please help me!
Thank you

What PDA? Did you check with that vendor's support site?

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

By the way, Outlook 2002 and Outlook XP (from your XP disk) are the exact
same version and probably at the root of your problem.

The PDA is an IPAQ and the bundled software all came with Microsoft seals and ID's and even the necessity to register online. The PDA works fine. I can not start Outlook. If I start it with "default files" it will not let me open any contact/appt/note/task (the only ones I tried) - giving me the same message as above. This is obviously NOT a PDA problem -- this is a glitch in Microsoft's software
Thank you
Fran
Incidently - the reason I could not just reply as an email - Outlook WON'T OPEN!!!!!

Oh, and if you had Outlook on your system, why did you feel the need to
install it from the PDA software CD? I don't understand - I am not trying
to slam you, just find out if there is a recommendation somewhere that you
need to install the iPAQ version of Outlook over your already functioning
Outlook from Office XP?

If there is such a recommendation, please point it out to me. If vendors
(PPC vendors) are recommending this, I would like to know their reasoning.
