Lost Address book & Email

mike

One minute I'm reading email. I power down. I restart my computer.
But when I open up entourage... It starts asking me questions as
though it was the first time I opened the software. My whole address
book, calendar, and address book info is completely gone!

Is there a way to restore to a previous date, retrieve that info, or
what ever to get at least the address book and maybe some of the
emails?

Was this a controlled quit?

There are a few things that will make your database ³disappear².

1. User error. If the Microsoft User Data folder is moved out of your
Documents folder, it will create a new blank one.
2. Virus software has quarantined your database
3. The OS will move ³orphaned² files to an invisible folder named
'lost+found'. This can happen if you crash or if power down before you quit
Entourage.

Currently there is a bug in the finder that makes finding invisible files
difficult. I can¹t test to see if this works as the folder 'lost+found' is
only created when this happens.

In the Finder under the 'go' menu, select 'go to folder'. In that dialog,
enter "/lost+found" (without the quotes).

If there is a lost+found folder it will open, if not, you will get a 'folder
not found' error. More on 'lost+found':

For User error, do a search for ³Microsoft User Data³ folder without the
quotes).
