lost all Wednesday's e-mails

Hi
I opened Outlook this morning to find that all yesterday's (Wednesday's)
e-mails had disappeared... several were ones that I need to recover if
possible.
Have tried a Search for *.pst files and tried to open with Outlook but got
an error message saying Operation failed. I'm using Outlook 2003 and XP.
Any advice very welcome.

Let Outlook tell you where the PST is (File>Data File management) and, with
Outlook closed, run the Inbox Repair Tool on that PST.

Thank-you.
I tried the Inbox Repair Tool and it did show that there were errors. I did
Repair but still can't access Wednesday's e-mails.
Is there anything else I can try?
