lost contacts

I have a user who did two things and now we can not find
the contacts list.
1. changed from domain to workgroup
2. went from pop to imap.

If it is not too late to recover i need to find where to
look to find this information. I looked at the pst files
and they are not there, at least new ones. Any help is
welcome.
