Lost Entourage Data

I attempted to open a new account in Entourage (X) and lost the
previous account and data. I had saved addresses, but I lost important
sent and saved e-mails and all of the calendar data; the previous
account just disappeared. I re-entered data for original account and
could call up all of the new e-mails but none of previously mentioned
data.

I have Norton System Works, but as a new user I am unsure how to use
it to find the lost files. I assume this information is still on my hard
drive, but I do not know where it is nor how to access it.

Related to this, why can I not open the new account, which already
exists (comcast)? I have used both (actually three accounts) on Explorer
but I cannot get the second one to open on Entourage, which I much
prefer.

Help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Can't help you in finding your lost data. I accidentally deleted my Identities folder a week ago and lost everything too. But in regards to checking multiple email accounts in Entourage, Go to TOOLS > ACCOUNTS then select New and add all the info for your name, mail server, etc. It will then check both your accounts at the same time. I have 5 different emails coming into my Inbox. They are then sorted using Rules into specific folders as I desire.

It sounds like you are describing a new Identity not Account. Creating a new
Account would not in any way affect your calendar and mail.

If you could give us the steps you used that created the problem, perhaps we
can help you.

Entourage stores information in a database. Once it is gone you cannot use
System Works to retrieve it.

It's possible the mail is still there but you could have "unread only" or
"flagged only" selected for viewing mail.

Under Tools in the Menu bar, select Accounts. Click on the New button to
create a new account.

You can have multiple accounts with Entourage.

A little background info if you can't find your Identity...

Select Switch Identity under Entourage in the Menu bar, and see if your old
identity is still listed. If it's not there, then...

It's possible that Entourage is looking in the wrong location for your
Microsoft User Data folder. You probably have more than one Documents
folder.

Entourage expects the folder to be in your Documents folder. For OS X
users, that's the Documents folder in your User's folder.

Open Entourage, create a new identity and name it something unique so you
can do a search on it and it will be the only thing that shows up.

Now do a search in the Finder for this new identity. This will tell you
where Entourage is looking for Identities.

Fix if you have more than one Microsoft User Data Folder...

Move the identity folder you want to use to the Office Identities folder
that Entourage is recognizing. Your identity is named "Main" by default. Be
sure to rename one so you do not overwrite.

Switch Identities to view your mail. If you have not used the new identity,
delete it. If you have used it and want to combine the new mail with your
original database, just drag each folder to the desktop. this creates an
MBOX file. Switch identities. Drag the MBOX files into the folder window of
Entourage.

Remember keep a backup of all data before deleting.
