lost messages/db/identity with Entourage 10.1.04

Tiziana Spanò

Hope someone surfing the net today can help me.
On friday I used entourage and everything was ok: all the mb of the
database (inbox, sent, etc...) were absolutely where they should have
been.
Today I arrived at the office, started the program and it said
"welcome"!!! All my account info was gone, and I tried to replace them
with new ones, perhaps complicating the situation. My email and
contacts have been deleted, and I can't understand why.
I've tried to rebuild my database but obviously it is empty. Moreover,
no identity apart from the one created today is in the specified
folder Ms users data etc...
What can I do? is there a way to recover the inbox/sent mail DB? I
would like to have my identity back....
Last but not least, there isn't any backup available...
pls help me.

Sorry Mickey but before writing my post, I read all the messages which
I thought could have helped me. No identities apart from the empty and
last one are listed in the folder. I think that, following the
instructions on the welcome mask, I've definively deleted my previuos
identity. Do you agree with me? I hope you've another and smart
explanation...
;-)

Tiziana.

Ah right, the missing database appeared again after some searching and has
now been fixed.

I fixed mine by searching with Finder for database and it came up with quite
a few, the one i wanted was called 'main database' not just main.

I then created a folder called 'main database' (strangely enough) in the
Microsoft User Data Folder and copied the files to that.

I switched identities and low and behold there it was, all my previous
settings, emails etc.

I also backed that folder up.

Try looking in Finder too mate, it might work!!!

I think it was probably called "Main Identity" which is the default name of
the first identity created by Entourage. (In this case, the main window in
Entourage does not show any identity name at all, as long as it's your only
identity in this OS X user).
I then created a folder called 'main database' (strangely enough) in the
Microsoft User Data Folder and copied the files to that.

Any name will work, but it's more common to name it with your own name.
That's useful if and when you want to sync to Palm, since by default Palm
asks you for your name when creating its own user identity and they need to
be named the same for the conduit to work.
I switched identities and low and behold there it was, all my previous
settings, emails etc.

I also backed that folder up.
