Lost messages not yet gone?

T

Tim Hicks

OS 10.3.9, Entourage 11.2.1

I did some housecleaning, deleted a lot of messages.

Ran Export Folders v1.1, which worked but crashed at the end with an error I
didn't record.

Verified my database (OK) then compacted my database to take advantage of
all the removals. Came back up with lots of empty folders. Oddly, the empty
ones are all from the top down (Inbox, Outbox, etc.) until I get down to a
certain folder and everything below that is OK! Address book and calendar
are OK.

I went to the Backup just created - a MUCH larger database - but same
problem.

Rebuilt the new one, got a few of the lost messages back.
Rebuilt the old one, no joy.

Oldest version still shows the much larger database size, so I am fairly
sure the messages are actually there. How can I hit Entourage upside the
head and get it to see them?

p.s. to select one of my databases, I have to use the utility to do
something to it, such as Verify, right? Entourage seems to launch with
whichever one I most recently "touched" with the Utility.

No. Go to Entourage menu/Switch identities, and you'll see every identity
represented by a folder in Office Identities 2004 subfolder of Microsoft
User Data folder.
