Lost my Help Display

When I request "Help" (either from the menu or F1) in both Excel & Word the current screen
"bounces" a bit but the Help screen does not display. This happens in the VBE as well.
Was working fine yesterday.
Both the Task Bar and Manager indicate it's running but it doesn't show.
The title bar greys out as if it thinks the screen is up and running.

Whoops, forgot that.
Office 2k on w2kPro.
BTW - just tried the "Detect & Repair" - no go.

I thought that might be the case. Based on your description do you
have toolbars docked on both sides of the screen set to AutoHide? If
that's the case this issue was corrected in the Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a
patch. Go to http://office.microsoft.com and check for updates.

If that isn't it there are a few other possibilities. Here is an
article that contains the most common cause:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q237355

Also note that there are a few links to other articles at the bottom.

Beth;
Thanks for the reply/links.
I do have the task bar at the top of the display and the office shortcut bar on the
bottom, both set to "Autohide".
However, as I'm currently running SP3, I *assume* that 1a would be installed.

I did manage to get the help back by minimizing the Excel window then clicking the Help
app on the task bar.
It showed up as a "sliver" on the right side of the screen which I dragged back and now it
seems to be back to normal.
I have had problems before (never like this) with it changing size on me for no apparent
reason. Sometimes all that would show was the title bar.

I only hope I'll remember this "fix" the next time it happens - getting older and need all
the "Help" I can get.

Again, thanks.

Glad to hear you have your Help window back. :)

I've had windows unexpectedly open off the Desktop as well and there
have been several reports of Word and Photo Editor opening off the
Desktop. Should it ever happen again and there isn't a 'sliver' of the
window available then right-click the task in the Windows taskbar and
click the Move command - if it is disabled then click Restore first.
Then press one of your arrow keys to lock in the Move command and then
you should be able to drag it back into view with your mouse.
