lost news on menu outlook 2003

Folks,

I was setting up outlook professional 2003 and I placed "News" on the go
menu. I attempted to set up the news reader but didn't have the right
server address. I deleted the account. I went out of outlook to get the
info and came back in to complete the set up but now the "news" item is gone
from the "go" menu. I tried to reset it up but now "news" is gone from the
commands/go tab. How can I install newsgroups in outlook w/o this menu item
and also access the newsgroups within outlook2003. Please advise!

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/outnews switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.

Milly,

Tx for the info. It did not work for me though even w/ closing all apps and
rebooting. The "news" appears to be lost in Outlook2003. I'll just use
Outlook Express. Bummer.

Thanks anyway.
