Lost outgoing mail

Have anyone experience not being able to send mail out thru your Entourage 2008? What I meant is I tried to send mail out thru my entourage 2008 program and even though it shows that it went off because it goes from the outbox into the sent box but yet it never left my computer as my ISP (shaw.ca) did not receive the mail package and neither did the tended party receive my mail. I can still send mail using my Mac Mail program or thru my Yahoo Mail so the problem is isolated to the Entourage program only. MS technical support was not able to resolve this program for me too. We even tried to reinstall the MS office 2008 again but the problem still exist. However an interesting thing happen during the uninstall process as the computer prompt to say that the Entourage cannot be properly uninstalled because the Entourage.icns is still running. The mystery is even MS technical support could not identify what is .icns. My OS is Leopard 10.5. Anyone out there has a solution or encounter similar problem? MS support is putting case open but it been over two weeks and I still have not heard from them. By the way I did not have such problem earlier when I first install the program about two months ago.

Have you upgraded to 10.5.2? If not, run the Apple combo updater. Even if
you are updated, running the combo again will often fix corruption in system
files.

Let's go over the basics.

When you compose a message, it goes to the Outbox.
After being sent, the message should be stored in Sent Items. (If you have
set a rule to move messages to a different folder, look in that folder)

Open the Progress window and watch what happens when you try to send an
email. Toggle the triangle to see what is actually happening.

Are you seeing mail in the Outbox? If one message will not send, then all
messages after it in the queue will not send. You should be getting error
messages.

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

An .icns file is an icon file.

Thank you all for such a prompt and professional advise. Yes after I did an update on my OS it is working fine again.
