First... It is loaded on one machine now (a Laptop but
who cares)... BUT last time I checked when you REFORMAT
it is erased...duh... I erase and reformat about every
two years because of all the garbage(incomplete
uninstalls, old temp files, software that uses more space
then it is worth etc) that get downloaded over time
again... and I do have a virus checker a good one at
that.. again not the point... It is not OEM software It
is software that I paid good money for but is worthless
if it wont reinstall after I erase the HD... ok last time
is there MS support for this customer issue... I have the
CD, am a valid paying user and when complete will only be
installed on ONE machine! I own many MS products... last
question... is JL Pauls with MS support??? I think an
answer yes or now would suffice... rather than
questioning why jumping to all kind of conclusions.

I have found - and read - your original post. Yes, Mrs Paules made a
mistake - but that was /your/ fault, not hers, your post was ambiguous to
say the least - I also thought you were attempting to install on more than
one system - the first and second times I read it.

No, Mrs Paules isn't with MS support - if she was, she wouldn't be a MVP as
Microsoft employees are excluded from participating in the programme, nor
did she accuse you of anything - you did that yourself. She merely informed
you that, if you were installing it on more than one system /of the same
type/, you would be in violation of the EULA. You put two and two together
and came up with a number so large it's off the scale. She merely said *if
you were* you filled in the gaps - conscience pricking you, perchance...?
The way I see it, only someone who /did/ have something to feel guilty about
would perceive an accusation where none was made.

If the cap fits...

I think you owe her an apology, don't you?

Dan,

Calm down. JoAnn is not part of MS Support, she is a peer-to-peer user
who I think misinterpreted your post. I think if you call MS and you
have supporting documentation of ownership, they will give you an
install key.

One thing David A. taught me (to some people, he's a persona non grata)
was to take a magic marker and write the code on your CD.

That is a good idea... never thought of that...
THANKS!

I plan to do that right away.!

I will call MS as well but was hoping to talk direct to
someone here with microsoft ... guess that this is not
really Microsoft ..my mistake... I am sorry...

JoAnn,

Write on the top, not the bottom. I've been doing it for years and since
the CD is coated, there is no concern about bleeding, absorption or
anything else.

I knew to write on the top, silly. ;-) I was told several years ago
that on some CDs the ink could bleed down thru the layers of
polycarbonate and could could spots that the laser could pick up.
Maybe the guys who told me that were misinformed but this advice is
still being given: http://www.yenra.com/how-long-cds-and-dvds-last/

If you use "CD Markers", they should have been designed to prevent this sort
of thing.
