Lost the plot..... Help.....Copying Answers from formula

Hi - I think I might be being really stupid and have
missed the plot here BUT can anyone help......

I have created a formula result that I need to copy and
paste into a new spread sheet as data. As expected when I
copy the answer Excel copies the formula and then
displays "REF" cos it cant see the cells involved in the
formula as I need to delete them......

Have I gone barking mad or am I trying to achieve the
impossible?

Anyone know how I might either copy and paste the "result"
OR can I write the formula so that it says "do the job
then just show the answer without the formula"??

Julia,

copy the cell with the formula in it. Select the cell you
want to paste the result into. Go to the EDIT menu, Select
PASTE SPECIAL, in the first group of options check VALUES,
then click OK.

Voila. The data should now be entered as a value.
