Hello everyone--

Will it work installing Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Standard Edition (NOT
AN UPGRADE) on a computer (Apple G5) with Microsoft Office X for Mac? (is
already installed an is also Standard Edition). Will it transfer all the
mail, settings, preferences, contacts etc. etc automatically to the new
office? Please advise the best way to do it. (I¹m a newbie switching from
windows). For some reasons I just don¹t want to buy the Office 2004
Upgrade version.

Thank You so much for your help!

That makes no sense. The Upgrade Version does not overwrite your X version.
It's a totally separate installation. You can even keep both if you want
(but there's no real point). It will just look to see that you have a valid
copy of X to validate the update price.

After you install Office 2004, you go to File/Import/Entourage X and import
from your X identity. It will import everything automatically but still
leave your old data for Office X, and Office X itself, alone. As I said, you
can still go back and open X. Once you've decide you don't need X any more,
you can run Office Remover in "Additional Tools" folder and remove Office X.
It still leaves your old data on place. (You can delete it yourself if you
want from the Office X Identities folder in Microsoft User Data folder in
your OS X's user's Documents folder.
