Macro for chart formatting?

Is it possible to record and run a macro that will eliminate the horizontal
grids, eliminate an axis, and change type in a chart? Bottom line is that I
want to be able to automatically reformat a chart that can't be set in the
default chart settings (or can they?)

If macros aren't the answer, is there another way?

I use PPT 2003 on Windows XP.

If it's just for your use, you should be able to set those items in the
user-defined chart area.
