"Mail could not be received at this time" - all of a sudden, withExchange server

I'm using Entourage 2004 (latest updates) as a client for our office
Exchange server. Everything was working fine for months, with calendar,
email, and addressbook synchronizing correctly to the server. All of a
sudden, from 2 different client Macs, I'm getting the error "Mail could not
be received at this time; the server for account exchange account returned
the error logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". New email does
seem to come in (sort of) but I cannot send out, nor can I synchronize
properly (my Outlook Web Access shows me what's really in the inbox!). This
problem is not being encountered by other people (other accounts) using
Entourage in our lab, and I've tried re-entering the password a number of
times. It seems to be affecting just my account, and I think it's a
server-side problem, but IT swears they didn't do anything different to the
Exchange server... Does anyone have any ideas how I can troubleshoot?
They're going to blame it on my Mac client...

Thanks in advance,

Mike

It could be a keychain problem... You should try using the Keychain
FIrst Aid command from within Keychain.app. If it doesn't work, you can
also delete the Exchange entry in the keychain.

Entourage should ask you to enter the password again next time you sync,

This problem happened on a number of client computers, so I don't think it
could be the keychain (which is local to each machine); also, when it gives
this error, it gives me the option of trying the password again, which I did
and it didn't work. I then noticed that the problem doesn't happen on
Entourage v.X. It eventually was fixed when our IT guy 1) re-set the WebDAV
service on the Exchange server, and 2) deleted all of the emails in the
Junk, Spam, and other folders (he thought there was a bad piece of email
that was messing up my account on the server). I think it was the WebDAV
(which as I understand, Entourage 2004 uses but v.X does not).

Thanks,

Mike

I've seen that once in the past with a server that wasn't fully updated.

Interesting... (since Entourage X uses IMAP for Exchange e-mails) This
goes along my suspicions for a server-side problem.

True, as I was saying, Entourage X uses IMAP for e-mails and WebDAV for
calendars and address book whereas 2004 uses WebDAV for everything
(thgouh the GAL is going through LDAP for both).
